One of the items which has been retrieved from a central Christchurch building today is a wedding dress.
It belongs to a Christchurch woman who is getting married tomorrow.
After an assessment from USAR teams, two engineers and a USAR official, the dress was retrieved safely from the 6th floor of a building in Cathedral Square.
Newstalk ZB's Jo Scott is a friend of the bride and was there.
"She wasn't worried about the dress in the context of this earthquake but it's her wedding dress and very special and I can't imagine how excited she's going to be when we manage to break the news to her, but unfortunately she's out of cellphone coverage at the moment."
The dress is undamaged.
